With 60 percent of Sharjah’s taxi fleet at the airport, the city will become hybrid by the end of the year

The company aims to eventually achieve 100 percent conversion of its entire vehicle fleet to hybrid vehicles.

Khalid Al Kindi, Chief Executive of Sharjah Taxi, said: “As part of our plan and strategy, we aim to convert around 60 percent of the Sharjah Taxi fleet operating at Sharjah International Airport and Sharjah City to environmentally friendly hybrid vehicles. the end of the current year”.

He said: “The conversion of conventional vehicles to hybrid vehicles makes a significant and effective contribution to providing a safe, clean, attractive and sustainable environment that enhances the reputation and prestige of Sharjah. Such a move is in line with the guidance of the Sharjah government and is based on the vision and directives of His Highness Sheikh Dr. Sultan bin Muhammad Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah.”

He highlighted the current global issue of protecting and preserving the environment and how Sharjah can boast of a clean environment across the emirate, in workplaces, institutions and public spaces.
